This large-scale residential project in Windsor Downs called for a premium, low- maintenance lawn that could handle the climate extremes of Western Sydney. With over 3,000m2 to cover, the client wanted something that offered both visual appeal and long-term durability, with minimal ongoing effort.
After a site assessment and consultation with Musturf, Zoysia Australis was chosen for its superior drought tolerance, dense growth, and natural weed resistance, making it ideal for expansive properties where maintenance time is limited.
Zoysia Australis is one of Australia’s most advanced turf varieties. With a fine-to- medium leaf blade, rich green colour, and a dense, carpet-like growth habit, it’s perfect for homeowners looking for a premium look with less upkeep. Its slow vertical growth reduces mowing frequency, while its deep root system makes it highly drought-tolerant and efficient in water usage.
This variety also performs well in full sun and shows excellent resistance to weeds and pests, making it the ideal choice for large open areas like this Windsor Downs property.
The Installation Process
Step 1: Site Preparation
The team began by preparing the entire 3,000m2 site, levelling and conditioning the soil to ensure optimal turf establishment.
Step 2: Turf Supply
Freshly cut Zoysia Australis turf was harvested at the Musturf farm in Windsor, loaded directly onto pallets, and delivered to site the same day.
Step 3: Installation
Using small rolls across nearly the entire site, our team ensured manageable handling and precision placement. This allowed for tight joins, neat finishes, and consistent coverage throughout the entire 3,000m2 area.
Step 4: Aftercare
The newly laid lawn was watered-in and fertilised to promote strong root growth and faster establishment.
